STEAMWorks Workshops
We offer a variety of workshops at STEAMWorks that teach you how to use software to operate our state of the art machinery and equipment. Unless otherwise noted, each workshop course is 3 hours is length and is offered once per month on Thursday evening or Saturday morning.
CNC Routing and Carving
Learn how to program a CNC (Computer Numerical Controller) to route and carve wood into personalized signs for your home, office, game room, or business. Many customizable templates are offered to get you started.

Laser Cutting & Etching
Learn how to program a laser cutter to cut, etch and engrave designs in a variety of materials. Project ideas offered include custom wine glasses, acrylic ornaments and signs, wooden box storage, stationery, jewelry, games, and more.

3D Printing
Thanks to 3D printing, you can easily create a physical object from a computer model. We offer this workshop to provide you with all the information and knowledge necessary to use this machine for all your computer modeling and 3D printing needs. We also offer 3D printing of ready-made prototypes at competitive rates.

Web Design
Do you need a website but have no idea where to start? In this course, you will be guided through the basic steps of creating and publishing a simple, yet attractive web page. You will also be shown how to host your own custom website for everyone to see!

Audio Engineering
You do not have to be a musician to make music with computer based recording software! Learn how to edit, record, and manipulate audio loops. Students will learn audio editing techniques, how to mix, and apply effects to deliver a finished original song in MP3 and CD format with your very own custom composition.

Building a Microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer that has a single function. Microcontrollers run everyday items like toaster ovens, electronic toys and MP3 players. An microcontroller can be programmed to monitor sensors and watch for inputs like temperature, pressure, light, voltage or a button or switch. It can also be programmed to control switches, relays,
motors and other outputs. There are many add on boards, called shields, that add features like WiFi, GPS and card readers. In this class, you will work with a microcontroller and learn how to program it to do basic commands. Information will be provided on how you can purchase an microcontroller kit of your own. This is a 6 hour course.
